Another set of catwalk hairstyles in focus are from the Narciso Rodriguez show at New York Fashion Week for Autumn / Winter 2011.
Wella’s Global Creative Director, Eugene Souleiman was backstage and explains the look:
The Look: ‘Knot For Girls’
The hair look for the AW ’11 Narciso Rodriguez show in New York was a dramatic departure from the smooth and sleek hair look of last season.
This season the hair look embraced the darker side of Narciso Rodriguez and illustrated the strength of the modern woman. The hair had an unkempt spontaneous feel to it which stopped the overall effect from being too pretty.
“This is definitely hair with attitude. It’s rough, raw and edgy.” says Eugene Souleiman Global Creative Director Wella Professionals. “The look is inspired by strong urban women.
Women who are strikingly individual but not pretty in a conventional sense. Women who are unapologetic and not afraid to look less than perfect. Women who are too busy to worry about their hair” adds Eugene Souleiman.

After adding texture and volume to the hair with Wella Professionals High Hair Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray, Eugene kept a raw edge to look, by using his fingers rather than a brush or comb to rake hair back in to a pony tail.
The simple ponytail then became more masculine by tying it into a knot at the back of the head. Eugene then used Wella Professionals High Hair Punk Chic paste to create texture and roughness around the face.
Finally, Eugene added a quick spritz of Wella Professionals High Hair Gloss Serum around the hairline to add some shine to the finished look.
