Oz Hair and Beauty, a prominent Australian hair and beauty retailer, is investing millions of dollars to open 10 additional brick-and-mortar locations nationwide. This move reflects a notable change in shopping habits, as consumers are now dividing their spending between online and in-person stores. The newest Oz Hair and Beauty store will debut in Macquarie Park’s Macquarie Centre this month.
According to recent research, Oz Hair and Beauty’s decision to combine their online and physical stores, also known as a ‘Bricks and Clicks’ approach, is in line with the success of other retailers in this model. These retailers have seen a 7% rise in online sales in comparison to marketplaces and pure e-commerce stores in 2019.
Additionally, the Australian market for beauty and personal care products is expected to reach 8.09 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.19% between 2023 and 2038.
In 2012, Anthony Nappa established Oz Hair and Beauty, building upon his family’s legacy of hair salon ownership in Sydney. Their original OZ Hair salon in the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) had been in operation since 1986.
Over the years, Oz Hair and Beauty has experienced significant growth, with a monthly turnover of $2 million in 2019 and a revenue increase to $40 million by 2021.
By the end of the year, Oz Hair and Beauty plans to have 15 stores and a total of 165 employees. The newest store, which opened this month, is located in Sydney’s Macquarie Park at the Macquarie Centre shopping centre.
The company also has plans to open three more stores in Sydney, including one in Rouse Hill, and one each in Canberra Centra, Green Hill in Maitland, NSW, and in prime areas of Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
