Olympic Inspired Looks - Archery

First debuted at the Olympic Games back in 1900, Archery has inspired today’s look, which mirrors the sleek and sharp lines of the arrows and the precision involved in this elegant sport.

Step one: Start by prepping the hair with a small amount of Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier, add Wella Professionals Perfect Setting and blow dry the hair away from the head with a flat brush.

Step two: Mist on Wella Professionals Thermal Image to smooth and protect the hair and, using straighteners, straighten sections to create a slick finish.

Step three: Apply a small amount of Wella Professionals Shape Shift to the front of the hairline for an extra sleek look.

Step four: Comb back all the hair flat into a mid-height ponytail, securing with a band. Use straighteners on the ponytail to reduce fly-away hairs.

Step five: Smooth down and finish with a soft spray of Wella Professionals Stay Styled Finishing Spray to add shine and hold the look in place.

Step one: Hair is first blow dried using Wella Professionals Delicate Volume, followed by Wella Professionals Thermal Image Spray to add heat protection against the curling wand.

Step two: Separate the hair into large sections and wrap around the curling wand to create large waves.

Step three: Using a little Wella SP Satin Polish, gently separate the hair with the fingers to create a more tousled look and finish with a spray of Wella Professionals Perfect Hold Hairspray.

Badminton has inspired today’s creative look. Australian Wella Professionals stylist Pina Mercuri from Rokk Ebony salon in Melbourne comments: “The shape of the shuttlecock is reflected in the volume and movement of the hairstyle, and framed with the softness of a feathered edge.” Follow this step-by-step guide to recreate the look:

Step one: Wash hair using Wella SP Volumize Shampoo and Volumize Leave In Conditioner.

Step two: Prepare the hair by generously spraying Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz at the roots only and then working Wella SP Elegant Shape from the mid-lengths through to the ends.  Massage these products through the hair and then blow dry the hair naturally without a brush until the hair is 100% dry.

Step three: Once the hair is dry, create an exaggerated side parting from the crown area and create volume with medium sized curling tongs (2.5cm).

Step four: Using tongs, direct the fringe from the base over the face.

Step five: The back and side areas can be vertically tongued into inch wide sections away from the face, creating natural movement.

Step six: Once the hair has cooled, lightly backcomb all the hair from the mid-lengths to roots using a tail comb.

Step seven: Using a soft, flat, bristle brush; gently brush the hair out to create soft voluminous waves.

Step eight: Pin the ends of the hair under at the nape of the neck to create a shorter, rounded style and finish with Wella Professionals Stay Styled Finishing Spray.

THE LOOK: CYCLING

Cycling is today’s theme and Wella Professionals stylist Pina Mercuri, from Rokk Ebony salon in Melbourne, Australia, has created a hairstyle inspired by this slick and speedy sport, referencing the spokes of the bike in this fierce style. Here’s how you can get the look:

Step one: Wash the hair with Wella Professionals SP Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner.

Step two: Apply Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Style Primer and blow dry the hair smooth with a round brush.

Step three: Once hair is dry, apply another coating of the Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Style Primer and brush the hair into a high ponytail.

Step four: Secure the ponytail with elastic and crisscross the elastic a third of the way up the ponytail.  Loop the remaining hair downwards and crisscross with the elastic until just enough of the hair is exposed to create a fringe.

Step five: Finally, mist the hair with Wella Professionals Stay Styled Finishing Spray.
