Going Blonde – What’s Hot Right Now? With Marie Uva

Going blonde is a big decision, it can be damaging and drying to otherwise healthy hair and requires regular maintenance at your hairdressing salon. If you are thinking about going blonde then we are here to help with some expert advice on picking shades.

Marie Uva is the Colour Ambassador for Wella Professionals and when asked which blonde shades were in for summer she said, “Cooler champagne blondes are coming back and bold, solid blondes with editorial shine are also on-trend right now. Wella Professionals have some amazing hues in their Koleston Perfect and Colour Touch lines which have just been released for summer.”

Not all shades of blonde will suit you, when choosing the right blonde for your skintone, Marie says, “Thinking about skin tone is obviously a very important step in deciding which blonde tone is right for you. People who are fair are better suited to cooler blondes, while warm, creamy and golden blondes look great on olive toned people…”

“People with dark skin tones should stick to warmer blondes and to honey blondes and caramels. Wella Professional’s Campari collection flaunts four gorgeous new shades of blonde, incorporated with 3D Colour Techniques to create a service that achieves a variety of tones, for either a blonde transformation or enhancement, so there’s a blonde to suit every woman.”

We all look to celebrities for hair inspiration, traditionally for blonde there has been Jessica Simpson, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively and Gwen Stefani (for those a little more daring.) Marie has seen a change in trend with requests for Abby Lee and Lara Bingle’s blonde shades. Marie adds, “Abby Lee and Lara Bingle are definitely the hottest this season, Giselle used to be really popular but she’s not as big right now.”

We asked Marie whether inspiration comes from the runway to which she replied, “Yes a little, but more people in the public eye than catwalk.”

Excellent advice I tried the pale golden tones at the hairdressers advice & looked horrible my whites/greys turned brassy so I bought myself some a pack of Schwarzkopf’s Extra Pearl 10.21 colour now I have silvery/pearl blonde hair that compliments my pinkish skin & brown eyes

I have actually been an at home (do it yourself) blonde for about 2 years now and I just love it. I am naturally a brunette and have tried to go back several times to natural, but I just dont like it as much as I like blonde.
Its so true that you need to pick a colour that is going to suit your skin tone. I have fairly olive skin, so I always stick to a more golden blonde.

I usually just go blonde with a new perm but this time I had a light brown base colour & blonde & red foils which looks great. This has been a nice change without lo0sing the blonde all together. I find blonde suits me but the red highlights really give it a lift.
