Paul Mitchell have announced a collaboration with celebrity hairstylist Clyde Haygood which is an exciting development for the brand.
Clyde Haygood of The Magnet Agency was behind Katy Perry’s MTV Video Music Awards hairstyle recently, and we have some tips on how to get the look at home:
- To start, he sprayed the hair with Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger HydroMist Blow-Out Spray before blow drying to give hair volume and some support.
- He then worked with 2” sections and sprayed Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press thermal protectant spray to help protect hair from heat styling as well as continue to build the support system for the style to help the waves last through the night, before curling each section
- To work with the bangs and her long hair, Clyde aimed to have the waves start in themiddle (near her cheekbones) and cascade down, to do that, he placed the barrel of the Paul Mitchell Neuro Unclipped Styling Rod against hair, wrapped it around, then twisted the hair, wrapped it around the barrel, twisted, and wrapped it, for the length of the hair—the twisting and wrapping technique helps keep the waves full and glamorous vs. piecey or beach-like, additionally the straight shape of the Neuro Unclipped Rod was ideal for this look and technique as it makes it easier to do and allows for a uniform shape
- He then sprayed hair with Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray to give her hair and bangs that glossy shine and completed the look with Paul Mitchell Stay Strong Express Dry Strong Hold Hair Spray to keep the waves looking gorgeous and voluminous all night
