Hairstyles for 2011

Hair for 2011 will be all about the wave. It’s sexy, suits most face shapes and is a relatively low maintenance look. In 2010 we experimented with defined, tighter curls, but now we will be brushing them out for a slightly unkempt look.

Waves work best for long hairstyles, think Gossip Girl stars Leighton Meester and Blake Lively. For lighter haired vixens, look to Scarlett Johansson, Gisele Bündchen and Kate Hudson for inspiration.

While we still don’t know what we love Kim Kardashian for, her tresses are the envy of dark haired women everywhere, and her long shiny waved look is a hairstyle that is copied regularly.

If you have short hair, the bob is going back to the 80s – a toned down version at least. Michelle Williams can’t step a foot wrong with her every changing short hairstyle, if you have the face for it then pixie hair is full of charm.

For something a little less…short, longer bobs are stylish and sophisticated and sleek and shiny works best. Think an old school bowl haircut, but shorter at the back.

Vintage hair is back thanks to the Mad Men television show, women everywhere are doing the Joan Harris (played by Christina Hendricks – pictured) and going a stunning red.

Red hair requires a special kind of confidence and works well with a peaches and cream complexion and a splash of red lipstick.

Upstyles will also be less structured, with a softer girl next door look being popular. That being said, there is still a place for the smooth, bouncy ponytail that is perfectly preppy.

2011 hair will be fun and full of experimenting and shiny, healthy hair will be essential for all the latest hair trends.
