For the Haider Ackermann Autumn Winter 2012 showing at Paris Fashion Week, the hair was pulled back with metallic streaks. Eugene Souleiman is the Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Care and Styling, and was behind the scenes helping to create the look.
The Look: Controlled Chaos
The Haider Ackermann A/W ‘12 hair look was a study of controlled spontaneity, where textures, colours and technique vied for prime position.
The hair look was inspired by wanting to create a contrast to the beauty of the clothing collection and the girls who modelled it. “The hair look came out of the idea that Haider Ackermann shows are always exquisitely tasteful, and I wanted to play against this feeling of perfect beauty to create a hair look that was aggressive and raw. I wanted the hair look to have certain nonchalance, a narcissistic quality and give the feeling that the model was so certain of her beauty that she could afford not to care about her hair” said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Wella Professionals, Care & Styling.
Eugene structured the hair look by layering techniques and textures with matte and metallic colors to create a sharp look that was super modern and offered the perfect finish to an astonishing clothing collection.
Get the Look:
Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner.
Roughly dry the hair away from the face. When dry spray in Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray focussing on the roots and pull the hair back with your hands in to a pony tail, positioned at the back centre of head, and secure with elastic. The Ocean Spritz helps to give a drier texture to the hair and create some ‘bite’ for styling.
Pull some wisps of hair out around the frame of the face and clip away and cover with tissue.
Using a wash out black hair color spray, spray on to the hair and pony tail in a sporadic fashion.
Next, twist the pony tail round into a knot and secure with pins, making sure that the knot is not too neat.
Release the wisps of hair at the front of the head and straighten them with straightening irons.
One by one, hold each wisp tightly away from the head then take some copper hair and body make up and using a hair color brush, paint the copper color on to each individual wisp, ensuring that the color is more saturated at the root and trails off towards the tip.
